SIS / MMI Rock Camp 2015
(Internal Page - bookmark this page as there are no menu links to it on this site)Here are the results of our cover sessions during this year’s Rock Camp. All young artists are listed alphabetically, by their first name. I hope you like the results. If you have any requests regarding the mixes, don’t hesitate to let me know. Best 🙂 Paul
What was the process involved?
Over the period of 5 days, every day each child had only about 10 minutes of “takes” per cover song. So, all in all, just about 50 minutes worth of takes. Typically, a cover session with an experienced singer takes no less than 2 hours. Once the Rock Camp was over, I proceeded to “comp” (compile) all the takes, i.e. pick out the best ones.
Once I had those, I then went on to tune them, if necessary, and occasionally re-time them. But I didn’t go all the way. There are still many “raw” takes left within the recordings you’ll hear here.
Once the vocals were prepared I did a general mix, sound processing, etc.. After I deemed that more or less OK, I then also did some simple mastering on the final mix. And here’s the result. Well done kids! Many of you should consider long-term in-studio artistic development. This is the ideal age to start! 🙂 Paul
This was the temporary studio set up for the camp, while our new studio is being built, also at SRC.
And Now What?
Click on the “play” icons to listen to the tracks. You can also click on the “download” links and/or on the photo of each young artist to see their artist’s page over at MMI Studios.
If you like the idea of developing your child as a potential future pro music artist, then make sure to sign them up for Studio Sessions over at the SIS administration. If you want to know more, be sure to email me or give me a call (645-131376)! 🙂 Paul

PRODUCTION NOTES
- TITLE: “Sweet Time“ (provisional title)
- Inspiration: The kids were sharing their funniest stories with each other. Each girl is thus singing the part she herself has inspired (with the exception of Grace who arrived late, but whose lyrics seem to best match her personality). As for the style, it was more or less unanimous that it would have to be some kind of a hip-hop-related pop – so that’s what I did.
- Recording: between August 17 and August 22, 2015
- Final Mix: September 6, 2015
- (C) Written by: Esperanza Gallego Puig, Federica Machado, Julia Sanchez, Mali Brider, Chloe Barnett, Savannah Krier-Sedkowski, Grace Gabriel and Paul Sedkowski
- Sound design, instrumentation and arrangement: Paul Sedkowski
- Produced by: Paul Sedkowski, for SIMA, MMI Studios and DJL Music

PRODUCTION NOTES
- TITLE: “Stupid People” (provisional title)
- Inspiration: All the kids were talking about their own experiences of someone they knew doing really stupid things. That sounded like a pretty good topic for a song to me. I wrote down all the stories I could remember and put them into a simple verse-chorus-verse-chorus-middle8 type of format. As for the style, Kristina had the deciding influence. She’s so passionate about rock it just had to happen. And since everyone else felt rock was cool too (with pop/hip-hop elements) – here we are.
