MMI Studios (formerly Meer Music International) has been in operation since about mid-2001 and was founded by Paul Sedkowski and Laura Krier, together with partners such as entrepreneur Peter van der Meer or music mogul and manager John Coletta. Over time, other partners and collaborators joined the company, including such well-known music industry figures as Derek Lawrence, Rob Davis, Andrew Tumi, Paul Harris and a number of others.

When the company started, its focus was on publishing and artist development for record labels. Over time, the company’s operations morphed and evolved. At one point, an arm of the company became a music school (“Upstage”) while simultaneously developing and touring its artists in Spain and in the UK.

Later still, MMI Studios created a local music radio show called “Fame Games Radio“, which, over time, became so popular (reaching well over 6,000,000 listeners world-wide) that it was signed on a syndication deal with ABC Radio Networks in the USA. As a result, Fame Game Radio, started a collaboration with the older brother of Simon Cowell, Tony, and created a regular segment within its show, called “The Cowell Factor“.

After the global market crash of 2008-2009, ABC filed for Chapter 11 creditor protection… and Fame Games Radio had to close its doors. This lead Paul and Laura to look at other options. While Laura continued gigging and teaching, Paul immersed himself in internet marketing. After some time, they focussed on teaching young people to sing or play instruments (mostly Laura) and they resumed work on artist development (mostly Paul).

Before long, this lead to MMI Studios teaming up with a prominent international school (Sotogrande International School, or “SIS” for short), and they jointly created SIMA – a venture whose aim is to take regular school music curriculum to the next level.
