First of all, let’s get one thing totally straight: WHO or WHAT are you considering helping?
By supporting Fame Games (donating of buying products through us), you are not helping out a bunch of musicians-turned-radio-jocks to freeload.
You are helping to fund an organization which, over the past 4 years has so far spent a fortune of its own money on trying to achieve at least a semblance of fairness within the Radio and Records industries.
Fame Games never charged its members a penny. This was often a bone of contention between us and our investors. We wanted to charge the stations and labels instead!
It ALMOST worked. Airplay on merit would today be a reality if it wasn’t for the recession!
The recession made everyone run and hide, and this frightened pack was lead by the PD’s (radio program directors) who ran the fastest. From their initial “wow! this is the way to revitalize radio!” and “what a novel concept – airplay on merit!”… to “we don’t make hits – we just play them!”
While we’re now still looking for investors and while we’re busy creating new and better income streams for the company, your role is dual:

We’re only a small team. Because of that, we work – literally – 24/7. I can’t remember the last time I have an afternoon off or took the family out for a dinner. There is simply NO TIME! It’s nutty, I know. And there is no shortage of opposition and doubters who suck your energy dry simply by mockingly looking on.
We’re not doing this to enrich ourselves, although – of course – “one day” it would be nice to have something to show for what we’re doing!
We’re doing this, because the unfairness of the whole process has killed the careers of some of the best artists we know.
We’re doing this because we listen to spell-binding new music everyday – made by YOU – which literally brings tears to our eyes, knowing that without a “champion” your music will NEVER see the light of day!
Our mission is different from the scores of other companies out there which are helping indies “make it.” This is not to take anything away from them. But unlike ANY other initiative of this type, we’re trying to attack the MAINSTREAM. “Public” radio which is suppose to serve us – the “public.” But it does everything but!
We KNOW that this is a tall order. But we also know that with the odds stacked against all indie artists, it really makes no difference whether one just tries to conquer a small market or a big one – it’s EQUALLY as tough. So, we might as well go for the big boys!
And the irony is… we ever so nearly managed to pull this off a couple of years ago. We have since come “this” close to finally legitimizing this whole “indie movement.”
Because we were so close we could taste it, we know and we firmly believe that what we’re doing is RIGHT and it CAN succeed. We just ran out of money before we could find new investors. We’re addressing that now – and YOU are helping keep the dream alive!
